Natural remedy for constipation & incontinence: Nestle Bliss yogurt drink with Inulin

Nestle Bliss yogurt drink
I had repeating episodes of constipation followed by loose stools to the extend of even experiencing incontinence and all doctors had to offer was advice to eat more fruits and vegetables which didn't help plus drink more water. However by drinking copious amount of water, my blood sodium level fell.

I decided to try out Nestle Bliss Yogurt drink which Nestle claimed to help with digestion as it contains Inulin (soluble fiber) and live cultures (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium lactis & Streptococcus Thermophillus) and found it to have largely solved my problem. I am still taking it regularly but its price deter me for it cost RM4.49 to RM4.79 depending on where you buy it.

Inulin is indigestible by the human enzymes ptyalin and amylase, which are adapted to digest starch. As a result, inulin passes through much of the digestive system intact. It is only in the colon that bacteria metabolise inulin, with the release of significant quantities of carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and/or methane. Inulin-containing foods can be rather gassy.

Some L. acidophilus strains may be able to survive gastrointenstinal transit, being resistant to bile, low pH, and digestive enzymes. They may then be able to adhere to human epithelial cell lines and human intestinal mucus. It has been shown to improve bowel regularity.
