The aedes mosquito spread dengue fever, a potentially fatal disease, and yellow fever. It normally bred (lay eggs) only in clean water but there are reports of aedes mosquitoes breding also in dirty water. Synthetic pesticides like Ridsect are used to kill them, but the aedes mosquito are increasingly resistant to such synthetic pesticides. It is estimated that about 2.5 billion people live in areas in which these mosquitoes are active and thus at risk of contracting dengue fever from mosquito bites. Currently, the world has no vaccine or drugs which can treat dengue fever and it is estimated that the disease kills about 22,000 people annually. Most of these 22,000 people are children. Because of widespread international travelers, this Aedes mosquito has spread and it is reported that the disease will likely spread to the United States of America

Natural pesticide for aedes mosquito

According to researcher Nandita Chowdhury, Anupam Ghosh and Goutam Chandra from Burdwan University, India West Bengal, the juices of a common weed in India, Solanum villosum, are effective in killing the larvae of the Stegomyia aegypti mosquitoes. They found that the juices of Solanum villosum contain some chemical compounds which can act as a repellent and protect against the lethal effects of the larval mosquitoes. These compounds from Solanum villosum can be sprayed onto stagnant water which are the breeding grounds of the disease causing Aedes mosquitoes.
