Isoflavone in soy products such as tofu, soy bean milk, tempe, can improve artery function (improved blood flow) of ischaemic stroke victims, according to an article published in the European Heart Journal. Ischaemic stroke is stroke caused by blood
clots or other obstructions. Researches studied the effects of isoflavone supplement on the brachial artery (the main artery in the arm) of 50 ischaemic stroke patients who have impaired arterial blood flow and found improved blood flow for those taking 80 milligram isoflavone supplement after 12 weeks. Arterial blood flow was measured using ultrasound.
